Mobile Demo - Devlog #2


In this update~
Currently, a mobile demo for 'Mallow's FoF' is in development and contains a working character controller with draft jump and roll (currently crouch) animations, along with some obstacle elements nested within a white-box scene. As well as this, a score system has been implemented which increases the further your character makes it through the level. 

The trowel has also been implemented and UI pops up when a player collects it during their run through the infinite runner. This will give the player the ability to collect mushrooms as a score multiplier.

Draft art is yet to be implemented. Due to the fact that the platforms, obstacles and character animations are bespoke assets, some issues will arise with procedural generation of the level further down the line due to assets not being part of a unit system. We are looking into enter-exit transforms and will hopefully have an infinite generation system up and running soon! 

As far as the mushroom multiplier for the score goes, this is currently in progress and has been taken out of the backlog to be worked on this week. Mushrooms will be used to give players  opportunity to raise their score faster and will incentivize having to perform riskier moves (slide into the mushroom tunnel rather than jump over it; perform quick jumps in succession to get over the tree platforms rather than slide under; etc.).

In the next week, QTE elements (button mash mechanic) will be created and reviewed in context with play-testing feedback to allow players to overcome obstacles without too much cognitive overload.
